Hey There.
Support That’s Personal, Professional, and Present
Hi, I’m Rebecca Messer—a certified doula, lactation counselor, and former Labor & Delivery nurse with over 13 years of experience walking alongside women through birth.

During my years on the hospital floor, I had the privilege of witnessing the miracle of birth hundreds of times. But I also saw what was missing: space for the emotional, spiritual, and personal transformation that birth brings. I wanted more time to truly sit with families—to listen, to support, and to honor their individual experiences without rushing.

That’s what led me here.

A Nurse's Knowledge.
A Doula's Heart.
My work as a doula is deeply informed by my background in hospital birth. I’ve served families at Southeast Health Family Birth Center in Dothan, Alabama, and The Birth Place at Conway Medical Center in South Carolina. I understand how to navigate medical systems, communicate with providers, and support informed decisions.

But I also know how powerful it is to have someone by your side who really sees you—who can help you breathe through the intensity, remind you of your strength, and help you feel safe every step of the way. Whether you’re preparing for your first birth, planning a VBAC, hoping for a natural experience, or facing a high-risk pregnancy—I’m here to support you with both clinical awareness and calm presence.

My Approach to Doula Care
I believe every woman deserves care that meets her where she is. My approach is rooted in:
Personalized Support
No two births are the same. Your care should reflect your unique needs, values, and preferences.
Whole Person Focus
Birth isn’t just physical. I support your body, mind, emotions, and spirit.
Evidence-Based Education
Knowledge empowers you to make informed decisions. I’ll help you understand your options and feel confident in your choices.
Calm & Nurturing Presence
I’m here to be a steady, compassionate guide through every phase of your journey.

The Moment That Changed Me
One of the most formative experiences in my own motherhood journey was the birth of my second daughter. I had a dear friend—also a labor nurse—by my side. Her presence during my unmedicated birth made all the difference. In those final, overwhelming moments, she believed in me when I doubted myself… and because of her, I found my strength.
That moment shaped the kind of doula I strive to be.

A Little More About Me.
When I’m not supporting families, I’m home educating our children, enjoying life in our beautiful Upstate—hiking beautiful local parks, biking the Swamp Rabbit Trail or canoeing with my family on one of our gorgeous lakes!

I also love cooking and baking wholesome foods from scratch, hosting friends and family in my home, exploring new coffee shops with my husband, or reading a good historical fiction novel.
